How to get back Golden Head for my 24k

Hello Everyone,
I am from India and this is my first post.
Recently I have bought a golden head 24k crossback certified from a Malaysian farm. Size is almost 9 inch.
The issue is that the seller kept it in a clear tank and didnt use much light. It was there with him for 2 months. So the fish has lost most of his golden head spread. There is still 30-40% head spread currently. As per the seller, the fish had complete golden head when he imported them. I have also seen the videos and it is true.
Shifus please advice me the best light to get back the solid golden head and maintain it.
Current tank configuration:
- 5 feet- 1.5 feet- 1.5 feet
- Water height 8 inches (So appx 120litres)
- Complete white tank (Base+4 sides)
- Using Narva full spectrum bio vital cfl 23w, Aquazonic tanning led 31.5w (just added today) and normal white led 6500k household tube all overhead.
- Lights switched on for 12hrs daily.
- Feeding dried mealworms, ARG2 mini pellets and MP.
- Water change weekly 2 times, 30-40%
The fish is eating fine but a bit scared of the new environment. Hope to get out of that soon.
Its difficult to get a video as all sides covered. Will try to get one soon.
Thanks a lot in advance.

>Hi Jazz,
Welcome to the forum.
I too own a golden head crossback and have very similar questions like you. Only difference is that my golden head still has the full shine.
Now coming to your questions.
1. Please get rid of the aquazonic tanning and the other led immediately.
2. Only use t5 white light preferably 12000k and above.
3. Start using one light at a time and alternate between lights. Keep them for 24 hours. Yes, you read that right, 24 hours. Thats how I have kept mine and the golden head is maintained for almost 4 weeks now.
4. There is a guy named VAquaria, he sells frozen prawns mixed with a lot of minerals and vitamins. Try to get that
5. After every water change use aquarium salt in generous quantity.
You dont need to do anything else.
Here is my thread just in case you are interested

Hi Avisek,
Thanks for the detailed information. I have checked your thread.
You have got an awesomely superb Golden Head. Completely in love with that.
Now coming to my scenario:
The golden head in my fish is almost faded off obviously due to ill maintenance. My questions are:
1) Will the T5 12000k bring the golden head back? Or its to maintain the Holden head once it is completely there.
I thought people used tanning to bring the golden head. Once in full coverage, then maintain it with T5 tubes.
2) 24 hrs of lighting bro???
Will not the fsh get sttessed? I have tried to increase the lighting hours in the past.
Result: My fish got stressed ouy and left eating.
Also I have started Aquazonic tanning from yesterday for 12 hrs/day. I will be honest that the head shine is slightly in increasing side.
Maybe its only my imagination
Please let me know how I can get T5 12000k light. Also where can I find the ballast.
Thanks for your detailed information
>Sharing some pics of this morning. Forgive me for the crappy quality as taking shots is difficult as 4 sides covered
9 inch in size

Thanks for the compliment.
I had a golden head before this from a Malaysian farm. I used Aquazonic tanning and miracle light. Within a few days it started turning back and eventually it turned into a high back. So not too sure if tanning lights help. Most people say tanning lights are not required for golden arowanas. T5 in white tank should be good enough.
After my golden head turned black I continued using aquazonic tanning light but no result. Then I switched to pll for a few months but no luck.
My fish currently is ok 24 hours light aquazonic t5. Its not stressed at all.
If your aro is getting stressed because of the lights then increase the duration slowly.
You can get T5 lights in any electric store. They also have something called a t5 casing which includes the ballast. I have attached pic. I have also attached pic of narva reptilight. You can try this as well along with t5 and your existing narva.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the detailed insight Avisek.
I will definitely check with the local ectric shops for the same.
One more question. Sorry to bother you so much
Will Aquazonic T5 fit into this 54W T5 fixture?
>I just noticed that the title has been correctly updated. Thanks a ton mods for the help.....

Yes it will fit.
You may not get the Aquazonic T5 in local electric shops.
You can go for Phillips T5 HO. Attached pic
